REFERENCE MATCHING & SAMPLING

Small Differences Matter in Airline Tableware.

Two pieces can look almost identical but differ in wall thickness, weight and handling. For reference matching and sampling, we can compare dimensions, weight, shape, color and other agreed characteristics before approval.

Logo, year marking, color, pattern, custom shape and mold development can be evaluated according to the product and quantity.

Dimension CheckingCompare agreed length, width, height and profile.
Weight CheckingReview weight consistency for handling and service requirements.
Shape & FitCheck profile, stackability and reference matching.
Appearance ReviewColor, logo, pattern, glaze and visible finish.
PRODUCTION REALITY

What a Photo Can — and Cannot — Tell Us

A photo can be enough to start shape matching, but it cannot reliably confirm exact color, weight or dimensional details. For closer matching, HI SKY recommends dimensions and weight data, and preferably a physical reference sample.

Color Variation

Ceramic color can vary slightly from a reference and between production batches. We work toward a very close match, but do not promise a visually identical 100% match.

Dimensions

Tolerances are confirmed by product and approved specification. On some projects, dimensional variation may be controlled around ±2 mm, subject to shape and process.

Weight

Pieces that look almost identical can have different weights, which can also affect cost and handling.

Mold Choice

Existing factory molds can reduce development cost. New tooling is available when the required shape cannot be matched suitably.

QUALITY CONTROL BEFORE SHIPMENT

We Check the Details Before the Goods Leave China

HI SKY may send our own QC staff to the factory or coordinate third-party inspection. A bulk-production sample is also reviewed before production where applicable.

REAL SOURCING EXAMPLE

From an Overseas Reference Sample to Production in China

A trading customer needed a custom coffee cup for an airline project. Only a product image was available, and the original item was subject to regional sales restrictions. HI SKY arranged an overseas purchase, brought the physical reference to China, developed a new mold with a trusted factory, corrected the first sample, and moved the approved second sample into repeat supply.

01

Reference Identified

The customer provided an image of an overseas coffee cup required for an airline project.

02

Sample Purchased

Because normal channels would not supply the item to China, HI SKY coordinated a local overseas purchase and forwarding route.

03

Received in China

One original sample was retained for direct comparison and another was provided to a trusted manufacturing partner.

04

Factory Matched

A stable, responsive partner factory was selected and a new mold was developed from the physical reference.

05

Details Compared

Dimensions, weight, shape, color and decoration method were compared against the original reference.

06

New Sample Developed

The first sample showed visible color and weight differences, so it was rejected and adjusted. The second sample was much closer to the original.

07

Customer Approval

The second sample was sent to the customer and approved.

08

Ready for Production

Bulk production followed with production tracking and pre-shipment inspection. The product has since received repeat orders.

Why this matters: You do not always need a finished technical file. A physical reference can be the starting point for factory matching, comparison and sample development.

FROM SAMPLE TO SUPPLY

Manufacturing Resources Coordinated Around the Requirement.

When a customer needs a close match to an existing piece, the project is not simply about finding “a porcelain factory.” The right manufacturing route depends on material, mold, decoration, quantity, quality expectations and schedule.

HI SKY helps coordinate suitable manufacturing resources, sample comparison, production follow-up, inspection and shipment so the buyer does not need to manage every supplier separately.

Questions Buyers Ask Before Sourcing

Clear answers help your team evaluate the project before committing to a production route.

What is the MOQ?

MOQ varies by product, mold, decoration method and quantity. We confirm it after reviewing the exact requirement.

Can I approve samples before bulk production?

Yes. Existing samples, alternative options or custom-developed samples can be arranged depending on the project.

How do you inspect bulk production?

Inspection can cover appearance, dimensions, weight, decoration, packing and other agreed requirements. Third-party QC can also be coordinated.

Can different inflight products be consolidated?

Yes, where practical. Products from several suppliers can be coordinated and combined into fewer shipments.
